Engineer & Software Tester


We are seeking an experienced Requirements Engineer and Software Tester to join our dynamic Strategy & Management (S&M) Unit of the Department of Medical Informatics (DMI). This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, eliciting LIH’s business requirements from stakeholders, creating detailed specifications, and ensuring software meets those requirements through testing and validation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in system analysis, quality assurance processes, and the ability to bridge communication gaps between technical and non-technical collaborators.

Key Accountabilities

  • Elicit detailed functional and non-functional requirements from stakeholders using various techniques such as meetings, interviews, workshops, or surveys.
  • Analyze gathered information to identify key system components and their relationships.
  • Create comprehensive and clear requirement documents that can be understood by both technical and non-technical team members.
  • Prioritize requirements based on customer needs, project constraints, and stakeholder inputs.
  • Work closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to translate requirements into design specifications and test cases.
  • Conduct thorough testing of software applications through functional, non-functional, and system integration testing approaches.
  • Use various testing tools, standard templates and techniques (e.g., automated testing frameworks) to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
  • Collaborate with other quality assurance specialists for continuous improvement in the testing process.
  • Prepare detailed defect reports, perform root cause analysis, and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to fix issues.
  • Actively participate in team meetings and project reviews to provide updates and discuss potential improvements or challenges.
  • Foster an environment of continuous learning through self-improvement, staying up-to-date with the latest tools, techniques, and advancements in the field.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills to effectively communicate complex technical information clearly.

Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in similar role as a Requirements Engineer, Software Tester or Business Analyst.
  • Strong understanding of system analysis, requirements engineering methodologies.
  • Proficient in gathering and documenting functional and non-functional requirements from stakeholders through various techniques.
  • Experience with requirement specification tools (e.g., DOORS) is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies, test planning and design, as well as automated and manual testing frameworks/tools such as Selenium, TestComplete, SoapUI etc.
  • Familiarity in PM tools, Agile methodologies, and requirements elicitation/documentation tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence) is beneficial.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail required for identifying gaps in requirement specifications and test coverage.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills, able to work cross-functionally within the team, with stakeholders, and other departments as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while delivering high-quality results on time.
  • Fluency in English (mandatory) additional language skills (French, German, Luxembourgish) are a plus.
