Navigating Complexity with Innovation
About the training
The training program foreseen in the Xpose will consist of four parts:
(1) On-the-job training – conducting research in the framework of an original doctoral research project under the guidance of the PhD Supervisor and with support of the complementary thematic expert.
(2) Courses organized by the Doctoral Program – The PhD students will be enrolled at the UL and affiliated with the Doctoral Program in Systems and Molecular Biomedicine at the Doctoral School in Science and Engineering (DSSE) or with the Doctoral Program in Humanities at the Doctoral School in Humanities and Social Sciences (DSHSS), depending on the project fit. Within the respective programs, the PhD candidates will have access to a full set of free training courses at the UL (Transferable skills and other thematic training at DSSE and DSHSS), LIH and LISER related to building up scientific expertise, but also developing sound skills necessary to successfully complete the PhD and succeed on the future career path.
(3) Tailored exposome training package specifically developed for the needs of the Xpose Doctoral Training Unit and covering among others population health, social sciences, omics, data science, but also digital technologies, research integrity and open science.
(4) Any further training corresponding with the PhD needs.
Tailored exposome training package A package unique in its set-up and developed for the purpose of the Xpose, to train the the future exposome experts. It will allow for equipping the PhD students with a broad interdisciplinary background and prepare them to be able to act on the interface of scientific disciplines, understand the complexities of big and real-world data and use innovative knowledge and methods to harvest and analyse it.
