Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) in Biomedical Research at LIH: Empowering Collaboration with Researchers
We actively seek motivated patients who are willing to collaborate with our researchers by sharing their own personal experience of their illness. These patients will act as partners in our research, providing invaluable insights that complement the work of our researchers and help researchers better understand and meet the real patient needs. If you are interested in becoming a patient partner, you can find more information in our dedicated recruitment page.
Established dedicated patient groups undergo specialised training to develop Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) activities with researchers, therefore facilitating meaningful exchanges between patients and researchers. Through this close and instrumental collaboration, we aim to empower patients to act as true research partners in the field of biomedical research.
This collaborative approach reflects LIH’s commitment to patient-centred research, where the voices of patients, their families, and caregivers are instrumental to better tailor biomedical research. LIH is thus paving the way for more transparent, relevant, and responsible research that addresses the real needs of those affected by diseases.
As part of our commitment, LIH offers specialised training programs for patient partners. These expert-led sessions are designed to immerse participants in the world of biomedical research, guide them through the inner workings of research projects, and ultimately enable patients to play an active and informed role in research projects.
Collaboration between patient partners and researchers fosters a more holistic, patient-centred approach, ensuring clinical trials meet the real needs of patients while upholding ethical and transparent practices.
By participating in these training programs, patients gain pivotal knowledge that allows them to be informed and active partners in biomedical research. LIH is proud to continue to uphold its commitment to collaborative, responsible research centred on the genuine needs of patients, placing the patient experience at the heart of research.
This active collaboration between patients and researchers inspires new hope for the future of biomedical research, where scientific advancements go hand in hand with a genuine understanding of patients’ needs and aspirations.
