The European Health Interview Survey (EHIS) is conducted every six years across all European countries for residents aged 15 and older. This survey is developed in collaboration with Eurostat, the European Commission’s official statistical office, and includes different modules.
Luxembourg has actively contributed to EHIS, with over 4,000 participants in the 2014 and 2019 waves. This survey is mandatory for all European Union member states, as mandated by the Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/2529 of 17 November 2023. Results of the EHIS play a critical role in generating key health indicators, which are published on the Eurostat website. These indicators support evidence-based policy-making and provide valuable insights into the health status, healthcare access, and lifestyle habits of the European population.
Between January and December 2025, about 18,000 Luxembourg residents will be invited to participate. If you have received a letter from the Centre des technologies de l’information de l’Etat (CTIE), it contains a token (a code with numbers and letters) to access the survey. You can participate in two ways:
The purpose of this survey is to gain a broad understanding of the health status and behaviors of the resident population and the related needs for care and prevention. By participating, you help us:
