Background
The postdoc position is funded as a PPP Healthtech project through external competitive funding by the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR). The successful candidate will be part of the Research Group Molecular & Translational Allergology, an international team with long-standing experience and high visibility in allergy research. The Research Group is embedded within the Department of Infection & Immunity at the LIH, a multidisciplinary and state-of-the-art environment.
Project
Asthma is one of the most common chronic diseases in children, and its prevalence has been rising globally during the past thirty years, touching up to 10% of the young population. The aim of the project is to address two major challenges in asthma diagnosis and treatment, the low adherence to inhaled corticosteroid treatment and a suboptimal inhalation technique, as well as the lack of non-invasive biomarkers, by combining a digital health approach with deep immunophenotyping.
The project consortium combines technical and cutting-edge know-how with excellence in patient care. This translational research project unifies the expertise of a start-up company specialized in medical engineering with highly recognized experts in pneumology and allergology research and medicine in Luxembourg.
The Postdoctoral Researcher will participate in a translational research study led by Dr. Christiane Hilger (PI of the project) and integrate into a motivated and mixed team of BSc, MSc, PhD students and postdocs at LIH.
