Lawyer in Data Protection


As part of our compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and in order to contribute to the mission of our Data Protection Office, we are looking for a lawyer to support LIH’s Data Protection Officer (DPO). The position is open to cover a maternity leave followed by a parental leave.

Key Accountabilities

  • Work closely with the DPO on the tasks and missions derived from the GDPR, as well as from the LIH data protection policies and procedures;
  • Review data protection related documentation (contracts, information notices, policies, procedures,etc);
  • Provide support to the DPO, namely, by delivering legal assessments on data protection matters;
  • Contribute to the promotion of a data protection culture across LIH;
  • Support the DPO in developing training material and communication dedicated to staff awareness;
  • Providing data protection training to LIH’s collaborators;
  • Ensure proactive monitoring in data protection matters at national and European level;
  • Contribute to the implementation and review of LIH’s processes and documentation to strengthen GDPR compliance;
  • Act as a contact point for relevant stakeholders within LIH with respect to data protection related activities;
  • Contribute to any other tasks needed by the Data Protection Office.

Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • University degree in Law (minimum Master’s degree level or equivalent);
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a legal position handling data protection matters;
  • Good knowledge of the GDPR, complimentary regulations and related guidelines;
  • Interest in life sciences and scientific research;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Service and results oriented;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, team player, open-minded;
  • Able to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment;
  • Pedagogical spirit/approach;
  • Proactive, able to work autonomously and handling various tasks simultaneously;
  • Excellent command of English. Fluency in French is considered as an asset;
  • Good command of Microsoft Office suite.
