Engineer Flow, Mass and Imaging Cytometry


The candidate will work as an Engineer in the National Cytometry Platform (NCP). He/She will mainly be responsible for : 

  • the day-to-day management of flow, mass and imaging cytometers as well as cell sorters and related equipment (e.g: microscopes) in consultation with the Head of Unit (Antonio Cosma);
  • he/she will support users to perform optimal cytometric experiments for their specific projects (e.g.: panel design, protocol optimization, acquisition, data analysis);
  • he/she should become independent in maintaining the platform infrastructure and functioning.

Key Accountabilities

  • Maintaining the equipment inside the facility and performing the necessary quality controls;
  • Training users to operate the different cytometers;
  • Evaluate and troubleshoot problems;
  • Assist in experimental design / protocol development, data acquisition;
  • Assist with the analysis and presentation of the data using the different available softwares (Diva, FlowJo, CellEngine, Qlucore Omics Explorer, Tableau Desktop, …);
  • Maintain schedule in order to run the platform to the maximum efficiency;
  • Endorse the ISO9001 quality management system;
  • Keeping updated with the latest relevant developments in the field of cytometry.

Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Master/Engineer Diploma or higher in Biotechnology, Biology, Biomedical sciences, etc.;
  • Practical experience of several years in two or more of the following areas: flow cytometry, mass cytometry, imaging cytometry, cell sorting, antibodies coupling, immunology, oncology, bio-medical research;
  • Previous experience in operating a single cell sorter; 
  • Ability to report experimental results and keep track of the platform activity;
  • Self-driven motivation, service oriented, sense of initiative, ability to work independently and meet responsibilities without continuous supervision;
  • Good verbal communication skills and being able to interact successfully with a broad range of individuals;
  • Languages skills: fluent command of English, knowledge of another language of the European Union is an asset.
