Bioinformatician


The Department of Medical Informatics of the Luxembourg Institute of Health is looking for a Bioinformatician or Medical Informatician. She/he will play a central role in developing a data integration center supporting the secondary use of research data and offering data analysis solutions for scientists.

Key Accountabilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build and maintain data spaces for research based on large multi-omics cohort studies;
  • Contribute to federated data spaces, enabling secure data storage and model sharing for federated learning;
  • Assist in creating internal dashboards to visualize and analyze complex biological data;
  • Process and analyze medical, clinical, and next-generation sequencing (NGS) data to provide insights for researchers;
  • Ensure data quality and consistency, following standards and best practices in compliance with GDPR.

Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • MSc or PhD in bioinformatics, medical informatics or data science;
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python or R;
  • Experience with multi-omics data analysis;
  • Strong understanding of data management and modeling principles, database, and EDC systems;
  • Familiarity with clinical study and survey design is a strong asset;
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills;
  • Attention to detail and a strong sense of responsibility;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English for effective collaboration.
