Science Communication Officer

The Science Communication Officer provides scientific, communication and marketing expertise to enhance the visibility and reputation of LIH across a wide range of international/local scientific and non-scientific audiences. She/he has responsibility for the development, maintenance and implementation of a science communication editorial programme to leverage milestones and increase awareness of LIH’s scientific activities.  He/she combines a strong interest for Science with a creative, artistic flair around words to write scientific, promotional and press contents in multiple languages.

Key Accountabilities

• Identify science communication opportunities 1) by maintaining excellent relationship with key internal and external stakeholders such as researchers, 2) by monitoring scientific literature, media and the biomedical research sector
• Develop, maintain and implement an editorial programme and schedule to leverage milestones and achievements, and increase awareness of LIH’s activities
• Write internal and external publications such as articles, press releases, newsletters, annual reports and visual presentations
• Help prepare multimedia contents and contribute to the dissemination of science communications via the various internal and external channels, including social networks
• Contribute to the production of communication and marketing campaigns,  develop ideas, write creative briefs and contents, promotional materials
• Participate in the development of LIH’s marketing & communication strategy and plan
  
  

Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences with skill/knowledge of medical/scientific journalism and communication or Bachelor’s Degree in journalism, communication or marketing with demonstrated experience in medical/scientific context.
• Two years copywriting experience, ideally within a medical/research institution, a communication agency, a scientific medium or a medical publishing environment
• Creative thinker: one who thinks “outside of the box“, by formulating exciting, interesting and above all, persuasive ways of presenting information to an audience
• Ability to take complex, scientific information and explain it in a clear, articulate and easy to understand format
• Strong project management and organisational skills
• Autonomous, adaptable and flexible individual
• Fluent in English with excellent copywriting skills. Good knowledge of French, German and Luxembourgish would be an asset
