Post-Doctoral Fellow in Digital Cognition


The Digital Cognition study ("DigiCog") is part of the Predi-COVID project, launched by the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH). This cohort study has enrolled patients with COVID-19 to monitor potential long-term health effects. DigiCog aims to investigate persistent cognitive symptoms more than one year after infection. In this context, the collaboration between LIH and VIEWMIND Company has been pivotal, incorporating VIEWMIND's digital technology as an additional screening tool to assess neurocognitive conditions post-COVID-19, alongside gold-standard methods.
The DigiCog project proposes to: 1) Conduct a validation study of a novel device that uses eye movement during tasks to quickly evaluate cognitive functioning; 2) Explore long-term cognitive conditions post-COVID-19.

Key Accountabilities

  • Undertake data management, and processing of the collected Digicog data in collaboration with the Competence Centre for Methodology and Statistics and the Viewmind Company,
  • Conduct data analyses, draft reports for the funder,
  • Engage in dissemination of results to national stakeholders and to lay audience,
  • Publish first- and co-authored manuscripts, present findings at national and international conferences,
  • Organize and participate to the meetings with project partners,
  • Actively participate in the activities of the group and its research development,
  • Prepare and submit applications to national and international funding agencies in order to contribute to securing funding for ongoing research

Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • PhD in Biostatistics, Health Data Science, Epidemiology, or related field. Research experience in Neuroscience or Neuropsychology is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical skills including data analysis and management, ability to synthesize complex information
  • Significant experience in the use of data analysis packages (SAS, Matlab, R, Python are available)
  • Excellent English proficiency. French proficiency or willingness to learn French would be an asset.
  • Ability to write clear and concise research manuscripts, grant proposals, and reports.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to work independently and to take initiatives.
  • Creativity in developing novel research approaches.
  • Commitment to ethical research practices and data integrity, maintaining a high standard of professionalism in all research activities.
  • A positive attitude and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Research environment & Training

The new collaborator will be integrally involved in the Department of Precision Health, specifically within the NeuroEpidemiology & NeuroImaging group led by Dr Magali Perquin. They will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team that includes epidemiologists, clinical research experts, data scientists, data managers, and statisticians as well as our industrial partner. The candidate will have the opportunity to receive training on various topics e.g. epidemiology, clinical research, digital evaluation of cognition, methodology, and many other soft skills (productivity, time management, grant writing, communication…).
