Digital Health Engineer

The Digital Health Engineer will join the LIH’s Department of Medical Informatics (DMI). She/He will help build a data integration centre which is the cornerstone of the Clinnova initiative. The data integration centre will connect key health players within Luxembourg as well as major clinical centres in the neighbouring regions. Clinnova considers the ability to equally access interoperable clinical data, research data and patient reported outcomes critical for the success of the precision medicine effort.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and maintain an interoperable data warehouse, addressing technical and practical issues as they arise.
  • Create and implement standardized operating procedures (SOPs) for the data pipeline.
  • Collaborate with academic and industrial partners on research initiatives and projects.
  • Utilize big data to enhance the sustainability and competitiveness of our digital health solutions.
  • Develop and operate backend systems, adhering to global standards for IT operation service.
  • Participation in scientific authoring and presentations;
  • Communication with medical users and data scientists to understand data requirements and priorities;



Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Data Science, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or a related field;
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in data science and data engineering.
  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer, preferably in the medical or health sector.
  • Experience in backend development, preferably with a focus on digital health solutions.
  • Basic knowledge in medical interoperability standards and terminologies (IHE, openEHR, DICOM, HL7 FHIR, SNOMED) is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL, Python, and ETL frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience in teaching or presenting complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Language skills: fluent in English (written and oral), Korean is an asset
