The flagship precision health initiative recruits its first patients in the Grand Duchy
On behalf of the Clinnova consortium, the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) and the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg (CHL), are pleased to announce the recruitment of the first 2 Luxembourg patients under the cross-border digital health project Clinnova.
In a noteworthy development, the Luxembourg arm of the Clinnova project successfully enrolled its inaugural 2 patients under the inflammatory bowel disease cohort, a promising stride forward for the initiative. Dr Jasmin Schulz, chief coordinator of Clinnova at the LIH, emphasised the importance of this achievement, stating: “The recruitment of our first patients here in Luxembourg is a significant milestone, which will pave the way for the successful inclusion of all future participants across our three disease areas”.
The first Luxembourg patients were recruited through the CHL under the supervision of medical investigator Dr Spyridon Sofos.
This achievement follows the recent recruitment of the first 30 patients under the inflammatory bowel disease use case in Mannheim and Freiburg, Germany.
Clinnova is an international project involving clinicians and researchers from Luxembourg, France, Germany and Switzerland. It aims to leverage the benefits of precision medicine for treatment decisions through data federation, standardisation, and interoperability. Focusing initially on three diseases, namely inflammatory bowel disease, rheumatoid diseases and multiple sclerosis, it will establish a shared launchpad for medical AI algorithm development in the heart of Europe. The project is supported jointly by the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR), the Grand Est Region, the Canton of Basel as well as the State of Baden-Württemberg. The Luxembourg part of Clinnova falls in the framework of the National Centres of Excellence in Research (NCER) programme of the FNR and is led by the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) in partnership with the University of Luxembourg, the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg (CHL), and the Hôpitaux Robert Schuman (HRS).
