Steliarova-Foucher

Abstract

Childhood cancer has been long overlooked in cancer control programmes. With the implementation of the WHO Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer, data collected by cancer registries are under the spotlight. These data, collected routinely to a large extent, hold information treasure to support policy decisions, develop health care recommendations, contribute to aetiology research, and help children with cancer, their families and the whole society to cope with the declared disease. In this lecture, Dr Eva Steliarova-Foucher will exemplify use of registry data to generate knowledge and discuss the potential of registries to contribute to future childhood cancer research.
